Inventory Management System

Preventing Premature Sales

Back to UX Portfolio

Project Description

The Inventory Management System project focused on improving Gap's inventory control and sales processes.

We redesigned the system to include a pause feature that prevented SKUs from going live until they reached every store, reducing expensive shipping costs.

The new interface provided better visibility into inventory status and streamlined the sales activation process.

User Research

User research had been done before we started the project. We went over the research with the Project Manager before we started the project.

Key findings revealed that users needed better control over when products became available for sale across stores.

We identified opportunities to optimize shipping costs by ensuring full inventory delivery before sales activation.

Wireframe Mockups

Designed wireframes showing hold dates and hold expirations, the product hold and release flows, and focusing on reducing complexity for users managing inventory across stores.

The wireframes helped validate the new workflow and ensure it met user needs while maintaining system efficiency.
